  IFTTT can send iOS notifications, which can open a URL when you tap on them. That happens locally on the device, so I'd assume that would be a way to semi-automatically launch a Pythonista script based on a trigger.

  @JonB , ok. It makes sense now. Was not important, but I was a little confused. Also because of the feedback you gave me about git. I thought you must have been writing something.
  Anyway, I did my first pip install today from stash. A triumph for me 👍 It was just prettyprint, but was a good exercise to do and also looking at the repo how it was packaged.

  @MartinPacker , it's slow learning for me now. Been so many years since I was doing it commercially, and I am getting older and I drink too much. But I am retired now, so I am allowed to 😇

  Have to say, really loved c. Once you are in the zone with c, it's very nice I think. But same time, I often found it difficult to debug other programmers code. Just depending on their style. A lot of my c involved the Macintosh toolbox, so the better you knew that, the easier to read and debug the code. Knowing already in your head what api calls etc could move memory etc.

  But i have to say, I am liking Python more. Python written in a very simple way is very verbose. But written correctly, is very compact. I really find it a buzz to learn it.
  I have the nice guys here for pointing out the correct way of doing things.Yesterday, I seen exactly how lucky I am. I am on the "Python Programmers Community' Facebook group. I was horrified to see some of the advice offered to some questions. I mean, truely bad.
  So I feel blessed to have be guided here by some very smart and people.

  To pass extra runtime arguments to your script, press and hold the play button. You'll get a popup window where you can type the extra arguments like in the Unix shell. (python myscript.py a b c in the Unix shell is the same as putting a b c in the arguments in Pythonista.)

  @ccc and @omz And others. Unfortunately, I didn't get to give the talk on Pythonista as planned. It's about 2 1/2 trip into Bangkok centre from where I am in Pattaya. The first 45mins-1hr into the car trip, it was raining and raining. Monsoon style rain. In the end the motor way was just not visible, could only see black as far as the eye could see. It just got too dangerous. If the rain had been like that in bkk as well, bkk would have been flooded and bkk comes to an absolute standstill. So I contacted the organiser just to let him know I couldn't make it. He understood. When it rains that heavy here, it's not just an inconvenience it's dangerous and you easily get stranded. Just point it out, as it might seem weird that some rain can have a dramatic affect. But it really can. I haven't been on the forum, just because I have been sick. Back up and running first day today :)
  Unfortunately I will not make ThaiPy's December meeting also. Will have guests from Europe here. From now to mid Jan, will be inundated with friends from around the world. That's what you get for living in a tourist city :)
  Anyway, wanted to give you an update. I really was looking fwd to giving the talk. I felt prepared and excited. But the next chance I get, I will do it.

  If you want to do python development, use Pythonista. Python is not the main focus of Editorial. Pythonista is far ahead of editorial in terms of python editor functionality, especially in the upcoming 1.6 release

  Instead of trying to find out what your environment is, go through all known methods of getting the current file and use the first one that works.

  try: import editor filename = editor.get_current_file() except (ImportError, AttributeError): try: # Not Pythonista or Editorial import whatever_sublime_text_uses filename = whatever_sublime_text_uses.what_is_my_filename() except (ImportError, AttributeError): print("Could not determine currently open file!")
