you must move your main script to Documents ( a folder under This Ipad)

when you open another apps file, that path is read only

You can generate and save the images and then make a gif or carousel. Built-in examples contain code to generate gif and here is the code to make a image carousel.

Here you can find the capture script, and here a script that processes the array and creates a few plots. Any help with Y axis units are appreciated. Make sure you secure the ipad before testing :)

@JonB , I really think it's a great idea. Granted it's not a normal iOS interface element. But many other uses also I suspect other than a floating toolbar/editmenu. Realtime property sheet of the current view for example. But it does something that is very unique. It can float and it's not modal.

I tried the above without crashing in Pythonista 3 beta and Pythonista 2 beta. (Latest)

see here for an example of a matplotlib interactive zooming plot. I am not entirely sure if this works in the latest pythonista versions (probably only for the 2.7 interpreter)

But the key to simple static plots is basically:

self.b.seek(0) plt.savefig(self.b,format='jpg',dpi=dpi) self.img_view.image = ui.Image.from_data(self.b.getvalue())

where self.b is a BytesIO object, and dpi is a number which you can experiment with to trade off speed vs quality.

Also, something like

plt.gcf().set_size_inches(self.width/dpi,self.height/dpi)

might be needed so the dpi values are meaningful.
