Pythonista with Bluetooth keyboard
-
- Can I disable the ext-keyboard when using Bluetooth keyboard ? so let me can using more screen.
- Can add some short-cut key? etc: cmd+f for find, cmd+j for jump. ......
-
- Yes, you can do that by pressing the Eject key on the Bluetooth keyboard or the "hide keyboard" key on the lower right of the on-screen keyboard.
- There are a few integrated in Pythonista. In the Pythonista help, go to Using Pythonista and take a look at the Using External Keyboards section, you can find a list of shortcuts there.
-
I believe thats not exactly what he was asking about. The question is: how to disable those two extra (Pythonista-specific) lines above the software keyboard? I could not find a way yet, but since my bluetooth keyboard just arrived, I am also interested if there is a way.
omz, if you are reading this, it would be very nice if you could change a few things using external keyboard.

First of all, the change keyboard language layout is broken in the app, replaced by switching between editor and prompt. Option + Space does this already, so I don't understand why Command + Space is also covered by this. Workaround is to switch app, change layout and switch back to Pythonista.
-
When typing into the prompt or the editor, the app makes suggestions, these however can only be selected by touching the screen. Would it be possible to make a selection using the external keyboard? Or does iOS limit this?

Yes, that will be fixed in the next update.

It would generally be possible, but I'm not sure yet how to go about this, and since most people are using the onscreen keyboard, it's not a very high priority right now. There will be some other improvements for keyboard shortcuts in 1.5 though.

omz, thanks for your comment. Let me be off topic for a second: imho python is one of the best programming languages and your app is simply amazing! I simply cannot believe you are doing it all by yourself... I would recommend it to anyone, but I know very few people interested in coding.

siddbudd, if you have not already done so, you might put a positive rating and a review of why you like the app on https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pythonista/id528579881

siddbudd gets a vote for both features...in general...keeping fingers off the screen, for people so inclined. barriers free design all the way... in this case for all the haphephobic coders out there!
:)
yes, thats a real phobia..
no, i don't suffer from it! -
Option+Shift+lt/rt arrow works great for selecting text, having a key to press to bring up 'help' on selected syntax would be nice (or, is there a key to do that now and I haven't figured it out?)

Sorry to nag...but will this EVER EVER be fixed?
This is almost a year ago...and still waiting.
With a bluetooth keyboard, those two onscreen extra rows of buttons are simply IN THE WAY...
I would like to use the WHOLE screen.
Is this something that is hard to fix?
Thank you.
