i want to hide the onscreen extended keyboard!
-
is there anyway to get rid of the onscreen extended keyboard?
i have a bluetooth keyboard so it's not necessary.are there others out there who really want to avoid touching the screen?
-
See http://omz-forums.appspot.com/pythonista/post/5808782877655040 but note Ole's statement that this might change in next week's Pythonista v1.5 release.
-
Sorry, didn't have time to add this in 1.5, but I know it's a popular request.
-
yes, thank you.
considering that onscreen keyboard is probably not so useful for users with a bluetooth keyboard.would be great to have the option to get it out of there... to open up that space.
especially when using a darker theme, its pretty distracting.
i'm curious, anyone know what % of Pythonista users use a bluetooth keyboard?
-
Almost a year now....still waiting.
Can you PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE fix this soon?I'm guessing that people who use a bluetooth keyboard DO NOT NEED these two extra rows of buttons stuck at the bottom of the screen. They are simply IN THE WAY...
When users hide the regular onscreen GUI keyboard, why can't these go away too?
The whole point of using a bluetooth keyboard is to not touch the screen and to get the use of the FULL SCREEN.
Does nobody else think this is an eyesore? Sorry but this is driving me nuts.

Are you using the beta? There is an option to have one row for the extended kb, and the hide button now does hide everything (though I'm not sure about what happens when ysing the external)
-
hi JonB, my apps just update automatically...how can i get the beta?
-
Search the forums, omz posted a link to sign up for the beta. it requires you to install testflight, and is only valid for 30 days at a time. The current beta has a lot of new features, but also a lot of new hugs, so it may not be for everyone. The point is, this feature seems to be slated for the next official release, so be patient...
-
thanks but sounds like too much trouble(the beta stuff)...this should just be an option...doesn't seem like a big deal...the secondary keyboard could just be hidden like the large one.
if you look at the comments from last year omz said it was a popular request, but he/she didn't have time to add it.
that was a year ago...believe me, i have been very patient.
it seems like common sense that with such a small screen like the ipad you'd want to optimize the space and get rid of redundant gui elements that are useless for bluetooth keyboad users. i'm curious to know what percent of users have external keyboards...i'll bet 100% of them would be happy to see that ui real estate hog go away.
btw, thanks for your replies JonB.
