I use a bluetooth keyboard (not a fan of touch-boards) to type on my iPad and I was wondering if I can use the keyboard as an input for Pythonista. For example, if I were to create a program that had a guy walking, I could press the left arrow to change his direction or the spacebar to jump (etc.).

I've read through the entire forum (at least the titles of the posts) and haven't found anything that 100% answers my question. It seems that it can't be done (I saw one article about the touch-board and a few posts mentioning bluetooth keyboards), but agian I'm not certain. Thanks for the help in advance,

      Cubbarooney

Doesn't surprise me, but "at the moment"? That would imply...

@cubbarooney, presumably u can use your bt keyboard for coding? Just not for playing (yet) :) - I was thinking of getting a bt keyboard myself to give me more python screen space!

Ohh definitely you can use your Bluetooth keyboard for coding. I bought one (Logitech Ultrathin KB) for my iPad and it works wonderfully. But yeah no way to interact with the actual rendering scene via keyboard without using some sort of middle-man like the console prompts. Which doesn't work when scene is running.

Yeah, the Bluetooth keyboard works for the coding. Without it, I would never be able to get code written :P

                    Hello,
Coding works fine with apple wireless keyboard. But, I prefer using Pythonista with Touch Screen...

I don't think I ever met someone who prefers the touch screen over the keyboard (but has the keyboard nonetheless). Hello :)

Touch screen at least is more portable- I am still looking for a good case/keyboard combo- for under £100!

The one I use isn't all that portable, but I almost always have a backpack. My friend has a case that also has a keyboard and I think Logitech makes a case like that. Not sure how much they cost (no more than $100, probably much less).

The going rate for USD to GBP is about $1:£0.66.

Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Case is very portable and nifty. However, it doesn't really protect your iPad if you drop it. I combined Logitech Ultrathin ( http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/aplus/detail-page/B007PRHNHO_Ultrathin-KB-Cover_CTG_lg.jpg )with the Luvitt Silverback Skin ( http://www.pbcentral.com/columns/hildreth_moore/silverback2.jpg ) . The skin is thin enough you barely notice it, and it's colored like the iPad aluminum. It's essentially a sticker to protect your iPad from scratches.

Like I said, not the most durable set up (I wouldn't drop this any day), but it makes my iPad feel like a little computer.

I think I got the Logitech Keyboard for like 60 dollars on eBay, but it's normally $100 at the manufacturer. And I got the Luvitt skin for 30 on Amazon.

Thanks will look into it. I have a Marware carbon fibre case which is really good and was £20, so I am a bit loath to change it!
(P.s. it's not REAL carbon fibre;)

You could coat your iPad in cement. That would probably protect it from scratches, but no guarantee ;)

Using the Amazon KT-1081, but have a problem with Pythonista abruptly closing down and losing all coding input. Very frustrating! Any help for this? Thx.

@Rossburnett Do you happen to be running iOS 5?
