App extension help in the beta
-
Is there documentation for app extension I'm missing? I have been able to use the appex class which is described in the documentation but I can only run the script by walking through the directory, opening the file and clicking the run icon. How do I add my script to the list of icons in the share dialog so I can click the icon directly? My script is in the .extensions directory. What else do I have to do? How do I specify an icon for it?

Go into the app extension. Press edit. Press new, select your app and then pick an icon / color

Thanks but translate please. What do you mean by 'go into the app extension?' Give me a hint. In Pythonista somewhere? In the .extensions folder? The specific extension script edit window? In the external app share sheet? I've tried all these places (even before I posted the request) and don't see the functionality you mention.

Share Icon -> Run Pythonista Script -> Edit -> Add Script -> Press Done -> Click on the new script to run it.

Thanks. That did it. Is this documented somewhere?

Not sure about how thorough documentation is. It used to be the case that it only needed to be in the folder.

I looked in the "Pythonista Modules/appex - Using the Pythonista Sharing Extension" doc and .extensions/_Readme.md. It isn't either of those. I don't know where else to look. I guess I'll add this documentation issue to the recent beta bugs list thread.
