Why is search in the user forum so broken?
-
The NodeBB software that runs this user forum seems to generate a bunch of false positives when you search. I know that I was in a bunch of discussions about nodoze.py. A search brings back 8 pages of hits but as far as I can tell, none of those articles contains my search term.

I have a similar feeling about the forum search.

I have the impression that "nodoze" and "py" are somehow treated as two search terms, combined with OR, and "py" obviously occurs in quite a lot of posts... Not sure how to work around/fix this odd behavior though, adding quotes doesn't seem to help. A search for "nodoze" alone yields much better results though.

I agree. It seems very broken. I have almost given up searching the forum. I hate it. But the problem is of course the same questions will get asked over and over again.
0f course, it's such a great resource as stackflow is. But can't find anything, well it's the inverse, you find everything.
I have never done this before, but is it possible to use google to search the site. Maybe the google site: param. I will also have a look.
I have also tried tag searches. Many things not tagged from the past

google does a very good job of indexing these forums, and searching using google just works. Thats what Inmostly do these days
