Cannot install scikit-learn
-
Has anyone been able to install scikit-learn as I am getting an error about numpy even though the version it says I have is 1.8?
-
Sorry, you can't.
scikit-learn
requiresscipy
which is unfortunately not included in Pythonista due to its FORTRAN codebase, which is difficult to compile for iOS(@omz —
scipy
please 😛) -
So many interesting packages depend on scipy and I guess it may never end up on iOS. I love Pythonista and like my iPad. May have to switch to Android for machine learning and data manipulation Panda style. Thank you Fortran :-/

There is an open issue in the Pythonista issue tracker: https://github.com/omz/Pythonista-Issues/issues/2
SciPy was already on the iOS http://computableapp.com/ and it was pretty cool but unfortunately if you scroll to the bottom of that page you will see:
Update: Computable is no longer for sale. As of March 2015, I have pulled Computable from the App Store because of ongoing stability issues.
@computable will the Computable app ever come back?

Unfortunately his post seems 2 years old. I didn't know about computable... Ok, I just read a bit more on the subject and based on the very grim state of Fortran on iOS it's ovbious iOS isn't ready. Not much tombe done unless Apple becomes interested in Fortran code in iOS. A bit sad.
Android seems to have fairly good through GCC.
