Pythonista alternatives for Android
-
HI
I've been off the Pythonista Forum for about 10 months because I did get an android phone and since then I've been unable to use Pythonista. I would have gotten an IOS emulator on my PC but I couldn't find any (if any of you know some please let me know).
Again, I've been off this app for 10 months so I've probably missed a lot; but do you guys think Pyhtonista will be coming to Android?
If not - do any of you know any alternatives LIKE Pythonista that I can run on android. I'm asking this because on Android you can run basic commands but nothing complicated like Scenes or UI,which I mostly use.
IF you guys are aware of any please let me know :D@ccc @Webmaster4o @dgelessus @Phuket2 @Cethric @JonB
I tagged you guys since I remembered you from my last time online. -
@Pythonistapro777 , hey. Hmmm, wow a lot has happened in 10 months. I can't speak for @omz , but can't believe/imagine Pythonista would be written for android.
Sorry I don't use android so can't recommend any products.
What I would suggest is to look at the min requirements to run the latest Pythonista 3 (the one app supports py3.5x and py2.7) and see if you can get some 2nd hand iOS hardware to run it on.
I understand it's about budgets. But if it's part of your education then it maybe worth it to you. But I hope you find a good solution, whatever way you go...
Oh, btw, as far as I know forget the emulator idea. Even if one was to exist which I doubt a 1 million percent, it would not be pretty -
@Phuket2 I agree on the emulator comment, it wouldn't be ideal especially on the way i like to program during bus rides etc.
Also, I looked through an old forum post about 5 minues ago and @omz mentioned an app called Kivy. I'm about to test it out for myself with a game i made a while back but it looks very promising :D
If it doesn't work I'll look up the minimum requirements you mentioned -

Wait, you had a device that runs a key piece of software for you, and you replaced it with one that doesn't run that key application? Why?
A very old, yet still quite true, adage is, buy the software that does the necessary task, then buy the OS that the software requires to run, then buy the hardware that the OS requires to run. (In the iOS case, of course, the latter two parts are combined.)
Since iOS is a proprietary system, an emulator of any sort for it on a PC is undoubtedly going to involve breaking a lot of license agreements. You can't buy a separate copy of iOS, it is licensed only for running on Apple hardware.
This thread, on the Pythonista forum, might be more well received if it were titled, "Pythonista alternatives for Android".
Your best bet might be an iPod touch or an iPad. If money is a concern, it doesn't have to be the latest gen to meet the requirements; secondhand or a refurb from Apple are worth considering.
FWIW, I've used Kivy quite extensively, on the Raspberry Pi. It's a good UI library, but it has nothing equivalent to Pythonista's IDE, and while you can definitely use it to write apps for Android, I'm not at all sure you can write them on Android.

You're an idiot going to Android if you're interested in Python programming and Pythonista in partucular. Sorry I cannot give you a more polite answer from a programmer's position.
