An open large file causes app to crash on loading (using pythonista:// not working)
-
Hi,
I created a large file from within Pythonista, which caused the app to crash. As I had the file open at the time (from testing its creation on a small sample) now whenever I open the app, it tries to open the file and crashes. From searching the internet I am not the first to have this problem but the suggested approach has failed to fix it (Using pythonista:// or pythonista3:// from safari, even after closing the app fully first, still causes it to crash).
- Does anyone know a way around this?
- Does anyone know a way to delete the file from outside the app?
I would hate to delete and reinstall the app as I have code that has taken quite a long time to write (although the file itself can go).
Thank you for any help you can give!

Hm, strange that the URL scheme trick doesn't work anymore. Is this a bug @omz?
To get rid of the problematic file, you can go into Pythonista's share extension (by sharing anything from anyother app) and then use the Python console to move the file, for example with
os.rename(os.path.expanduser("~/Documents/badfile.txt"), os.path.expanduser("~/Documents/badfilexxx.txt"))

That worked - Thank you.
(I had to add import os)

Man I was looking for just this. And here you posted just 4 days ago! Are you on the 11 beta too?
I'm sure this trick will work.
I was poking around the internals and I tried to open the "import completion" Json file. I'm assuming it's big, though I haven't seen it.

Following up on this, before I could implement the advice above I already "offloaded" the app in settings in iOS 11 b4. Upon restoring, all was well, data intact!
