Writing on the Forum on an iPad with Apple Smart Keyboard - Trick
-
This may not just work for the iPad and the smart Apple keyboard , but thats what I use. But often when I am writing on the forum and change focus out of the input field, when i tap back into the input field my cursor can be out of sync. It can be hard to get it back into the right place. Eg, the cursor might appear 2 lines down, but still the input is going where it should. Anyway, I have found if you just tap on the preview field, then tap back to the input field, this seems to re-sync your cursors location.
I just mention this because it was driving me crazy. Anyway, this seems to work for me.

Haven't experienced this particular issue, but what I get sometimes is that the cursor becomes invisible. It's still there, I can type and move it around with the external keyboard, I just can't see it. The fix is the same, tapping outside of the text area to unfocus it, and then re-focusing it usually helps. (I'm still on iOS 9 with my iPad mini, so most likely my issue has already been fixed in later iOS versions.)

@dgelessus , lol. Another strange one. I am on iOS 11.2 I still get the problem I mentioned above. Problem is I cant remember when it start happening. But I do feel its has been escalating in frequency. It's funny, I tried a few things to replicate it when writing this post and I couldn't get it to happen :( I know the problem is still there though. So annoying. But I am sure the best fix for me was actually clicking on the preview view. Not other places. What sort of worked, but not all the time was to click the expansion arrow to go full screen, then hit it again. But it did not always work.
Anyway, whatever works for ppl. It's very frustrating until you find your own way to re-sync your cursor. I have in the past have to do a select all, copy, discard the post and copy into a new post.

Haven't experience it and this is a strange case in my opinion.

@charlecruz1, :( I have tried replicating it again just now. Couldn't do it. But I had it happen twice to me yesterday. I didn't think to take a screen shot. I am so use just to hitting the preview panel now and back into the field and its instantly fixed. I didn't try to hard to replicate the problem. But it could be for example after I have pasted some code into the bottom of the post and continue writing above. So some version of that. But it does definitely happen. I will try to remember to get a screenshot next time

@Phuket2 I have experienced this in the past, it appears to be lined up hortizonality but vertically it is off my a few lines. I can't remember if it was on the iPad or iPhone though. Hasn't happened in a while though, but if it happens again thanks for the tip to fix it.

@shaun-h , no problems. Happened to me again yesterday. But this time was no point to take a pic as the cursor was still in the text and it was 2 lines offset. Meaning that my input was happening 2 lines up. Basically as you describe. No real way to pic of this, has to be a recording, not worth the trouble :)

@shaun-h, lol the very next post I did on the forurm, I got the same problem. I realised, it did make sense to do a screenshot. You can see where the cursor is when I type the p. As I say it does not matter, just been frustrating not to be able to show it. But as I found out, a tap anywhere in the grey preview box and back to the editing box fixes it 100% of the time for me. Before I found out about that I was doing all sorts of things with selections in the edit field etc.. to get the cursor to re-sync. It annoyed the hell out of me.
Oh, I realise that screenshot could be faked, but pls take my word, it was not!

You should report this to the nodebb folks.
