Bug: Find/Replace uses curly quotes while editor used normal quotes
-
I tried to use Find/Replace in Pythonista 3 to replace my double quotes (“) with single ones(‘), but couldn’t, because typing a quote in the Find or Replace box yields a curly one instead os a normal one. The quotes in the editor are normal ones, so Find does not find any matches.
A workaround is copying a quote from the editor and pasting it in Find/Replace, however it would be better if typing a quote in the Find or Replace box would yield normal quotes instead of curly ones.
This happens both with my external keyboard and with the onscreen keyboard on my 2015 iPad Pro 12.9”

You need to turn off smart punctuation in general settings / keyboard.

@coopertino Thanks, I'll look into it. Smart quotes are a pretty annoying feature for Pythonista because it's on by default for everything, so I overlooked a few places where it shouldn't be enabled. You can work around this by disabling smart quotes system-wide, as @JonB suggested, but I think I should disable this for the search/replace fields in any case.
