Editorial and Dropbox Sync in Restricted Wifi
-
Good morning,
I hope things are going well.
First, I want to thank you for developing Editorial, a wonderful application that I use constantly. I especially like, surely like many others, the extensibility you built into the app. It is barely in version 1, and you already made it into an application that takes many other developers several versions to get to where Editorial is.At the moment, I have one request:
Background (please bear with me for one moment) --
As you know, Dropbox is wonderful; however, the WiFi where at work does not permit syncing with cloud-based storage (for the protection of patient information -- I work at a large health care system). Therefore, whenever Editorial tries to sync with Dropbox, I get the error message in the attached screenshot. Certainly, I don't get the error message when I sync at home, but it is a pain when I am at work because of the limitation I just mentioned. In addition, I use TakskPaper to keep track of the hundreds of tasks that I have to manage on a daily basis, and also use Editorial for taking notes. Currently, my solution to using my TaskPaper and other text files is to email myself the files and open it in Editorial (not sync via Dropbox, and use the storage in the device only). As you can imagine, it is bothersome to manage files this way; certainly, it would be more efficient to have Dropbox syncing, even if it is only at home. I currently have Dropbox syncing off because the error message below always shows up whenever Editorial tries to sync with Dropbox (when I am a work, not home), and I don't want to re-enable Dropbox syncing every evening when I am at home.Request --
You may know of the app TaskMator, a simple editor that reads TaskPaper files. It also syncs with Dropbox, but when I open and work within the app, it doesn't give me any error messages (thus no annoying pop-up dialog box like the one below). Is there some way that you can incorporate a feature in which I can turn this warning off, so that this dialog box does not pop-up whenever Editorial cannot sync with Dropbox files?
This would be most helpful as I would be able to continue working within Editorial without any pop-up box bothering me to acknowledge it. With this feature, I know I cannot sync whenever I am at work, but at least I know I can automatically do so whenever I come back home in the evening and open Editorial (or at any other WiFi network that permits Dropbox syncing).
Of course, it would be nice to have this feature in your next update :-)
I sincerely thank you for your time in reading this post. I know it was lengthy, but I felt I needed to provide some background regarding my use of Editorial.
I wish you continued success with your apps, Pythonista and Editorial as well as any apps you plan on developing in the future.
Have a wonderful week!
