Hey everyone,
I currently have a game on TestFlight with the help of Pythonista 3 template but I’m facing several issues about a build update. When someone who had already downloaded a build, updates it to the latest one, the files aren’t changed and then there is no effective update. The client is then forced to uninstall and reinstall completely the app to finally get the wanted update. After some researchs and tests I figured that the problem comes from the fact that the “Script” folder (from template) of a client doesn’t update itself, even if the new version has different content. Does anyone have faced this problem before ? How did you handle it ?
Thank in advance,
Cordially,
SmartGoat

Cross-platform compatibility of scene and ui modules
Hey everyone,
I was wondering if there is any way of making a project using scene and ui modules compatible with others platforms like Android or Windows. I know that there may be some way of creating an api with pygame and tkinter to easily export scene / ui project to Windows, but I don’t have any idea for Android. Do you have one ?
Thanks in advance for your answers,

RE: Deprecated UI functionnality
Not for now, gonna try it later. Thanks @cvp !

RE: iOS 13
@RomSpy does the new multiple instances functionality of iPad OS works nicely with Pythonista ? It would be amazing to have 2 scripts opened in split screen !

Deprecated UI functionnality
Hey everyone,
I’m currently trying to upload the first build of my game, and I got this message from Apple Connect:
“ITMS-90809: Deprecated API Usage - Apple will stop accepting submissions of apps that use UIWebView APIs . See https://developer.apple.com/documentation/uikit/uiwebview for more information.”
It means than it is only a matter of time before we’re unable to add web view anymore in our projects if they are purposed to be published to TestFlight / the App Store.
I was using one web view to run a little intro video, so does anyone has an idea about running it in another way ? Is there even another way to run it ?

RE: SpriteKit wrapper
This is becoming even more awesome ! Congrats @mikael for those wonderful spiral effects ! Do you think you should be able to make a 2D light system ?

RE: Xcode Template
Thank you so much @RomSpy , but ultimately I took the first version offered by @omz and patched it with an old script ; however I’ll be happy to use yours in the future. But why doesn’t it work on Xcode 11 ?

Xcode Template
Hey there,
I’m gonna publish an iOS game developed with Pythonista really soon ; however, I cannot get the updated Pythonista 3 template created by @RomSpy. Does anyone can give me the build if you have it, or at least the latest template you have ? Thanks you in advance,

Publishing an app with Xcode
Hey everyone,
Some of my friends and I are developing a video game on Pythonista (btw, I love it) and we’re about to make an .api with Xcode to start beta-testing through TestFlight. More details on https://galacore-studio.com (in French sorry).
However I have 1 question: do I use the Xcode template available on @omz github page, or one somewhere else and more updated ?
Thanks in advance for all of your answers,

RE: Converting tkinter app to Pythonista UI
@cvp and is there a way to do the opposite, like using pyui files with tkinter for a desktop (Windows) program ?

Zip maker
Hey everyone, i’m wondering if you have some piece of code that can make a zip out of a folder and all of its child folders etc... cause i’m currently developing a game and there’s many many folders with sub-folders and sub-sub-folders.... and making a hard script that handle every folder in case per case would be horribly long.

iPad OS features compatibility with Pythonista
Hey everyone,
I was wondering if the new « multiple instances of a same app » functionality of iPad OS is working correctly with Pythonista. It would allow us to have 2 scripts opened on the screen at once, which would be amazingly useful. So if you have the iPad OS beta, can you try it and give us some feedback about it ?
Thanks in advance for your answers,

RE: Abandonware?
If omz don't develop / support Pythonista himself, why can't somebody buy the source code, or maybe making it open source so that this amazing app can be pushed further ? At the end it will be needed, at least for supporting new IOS versions ! I'm personnally leading a game project entirely developped on iPad with Pythonista, and seeing that there's no more support from de devs make me feel really bad about the future of my project................

Auto-completion bug with keyboard on iPad Pro
Hey everyone,
I recently bought an iPad Pro, and after a bit of use of Pythonista on it I noticed that the specific keyboard extension of Pythonista is on top of the auto-completion suggestions, which is kinda disappointing... does anyone know a fix ?

RE: scene.Action.group and scene.Node.paused not working ?
@cvp I just wanted to test action.group, not especially do an action.sequence. It is just strange that if the two actions are running simultaneously and they theorically negate themselves, why wouldn't the character stay in place ?
-
RE: scene.Action.group and scene.Node.paused not working ?
@JonB First, thanks for answering me.
Second, Crap ! It's much less usable than i thought. So there isn't any way to know if a given Node is executing an action ?

scene.Action.group and scene.Node.paused not working ?
Hi everyone,
Today i was doing some tests on scene.Action capabilities, but I sruggled with two weirds behaviours of actions:- Node.paused boolean does not seems to be locked in 'false' state, not changing when executing an action or not; however it is also possible that I didn't understood this attribute. testing code...
from scene import * class Main(Scene): def setup(self): self.background_color = '#cdcdcd' self.char = SpriteNode('plf:AlienBlue_stand', x_scale = 3, y_scale =3) self.char.position = (512,384) self.add_child(self.char) print(self.char.paused, 'a') self.char.run_action(Action.move_by(0,-100,1.0)) print(self.char.paused, 'b') run(Main())
...which would presumably give us a False then a True. but we get two 'False'. Try it by yourself and tell me if you get others results !
2) When I use a Action.group of two Actions which would negate themselves, only the second one is taken into account; testing code...class Main(Scene): def setup(self): self.background_color = '#cdcdcd' self.char = SpriteNode('plf:AlienBlue_stand', x_scale = 3, y_scale =3) self.char.position = (512,384) self.add_child(self.char) def touch_began(self,touch): action_group = Action.group(Action.move_by(0,100),Action.move_by(0,-100)) if not self.char.paused: self.char.run_action(action_group) run(Main())
... and for output I let you try it by yourself too. Have a nice day/night,
Thanks in advance,
SmartGoat
