    • Apple delisting older apps that haven't been updated recently

      https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2022/04/apple-moves-to-delist-older-app-store-apps-frustrating-developers/

This will, of course, affect Pythonista and Editorial. After delisting, they won't be found in search results unless updates are submitted to the App Store.

    • RE: Editorial still alive?

Can't speak for Ole but it does seem to be abandoned. His last Twitter comments about it suggested it may be too much work to get it updated the way he'd like.

Personally, I've loved using this app. The workflows and snippets are very useful to me, I like using Python for the scripting instead of JavaScript, and I absolutely love selecting text. The best feature for me is moving the selection marker into the middle of a word and having Editorial automatically move it to the end of the word so the whole word is selected. The current iOS text selection method is horrible, to my way of doing things.

But, as I moved to Editorial from Drafts, so must I move to another. I won't go back to Drafts and don't like iAWriter so I've picked Taio. Not perfect and still rough in some spots but, for me, it's an acceptable replacement for Editorial.

Of course, it uses the standard iOS method of selecting text but I'll cope. It offers iCloud and Files support. I haven't checked into Shortcuts integration or URL Schemes yet.

Other users will have other ideas, of course. Some are sticking with Editorial because there are none better and have gotten iCloud support through "Open in..." methods to save documents and Shortcuts/URL Schemes/clipboard methods to get copy from iCloud into Editorial.

    • RE: Editing Document Templates

Start by pressing "+" to select a new document template. Press the info "i" button on the far right. At the top of the screen should be "Edit Template..."

    • RE: Seeing long filenames in the file browser?

You could use a script or workflow to generate the link needed for the TOC but I do it manually. No scripts. The TOC is just another Markdown file. Swipe to preview, browse the file and select the file you wish to view.

Perhaps your own custom table of contents file? I've never gotten relative links to work correctly in Editorial but its URL scheme works perfectly (in Editorial only, of course)

The table on contents entries look like this:

      [**1400 - 1600**](editorial://open/1400-1600.md?root=dropbox)
      [**1600 - 1800**](editorial://open/1600-1800.md?root=dropbox)

Your file name can be as long as you prefer. Just remember to encode your links, such as spaces converting to "%20", etc.

If you prefer a "return" link to the table of contents file embedded in each document, you could use this:

      [**Table of Contents**](editorial://open/TOC.md?root=dropbox)

Would folders named with your prefix help organize these files better? The files wouldn't need the prefix after being moved into the folders. Perhaps their filenames might display better?

    • RE: Difficulty enabling location services for Editorial in iOS 8.4

      iOS 8.4, iPhone 4S.

I can verify this behavior. One thing I notice - under Location Services, Editorial was listed but the setting wouldn't stick when I'd set it to Always. When it did stick, my location.is_authorized() still returned false. Any of the times I got the setting to stay Always, I never saw the Location Services arrow next to the setting. The one time I did see it, Editorial then disappeared from the list of apps. I've restarted the phone but Editorial is still missing from the list of apps under Location Services.
