Script disappeared
-
I've had this happen twice. Both times the text of the most recent file disappeared upon opening the app. Both times were after updating to ios 8. I don't know if that could have anything to do with it. I'm just making sure to back up my work, but it is annoying none the less.
-
Out of curiosity, are you using a custom keyboard?
-
I have a few installed, but I can't remember if I was using one at the time it happened. I wish I'd thought of it at the time. I'll keep an eye out if it happens again.
-
JonB:
It happened when I reopened Pythonista, so not during typing.
It happened both in iOS7 and iOS8.
I don't use a custom keyboard. -
The second time this bug has hit me... First time was easily accepted - it was a 20-minute script.
This time a script worth a month (in transit/transport) of work has gone =(Just played with a script a little, reorganized some classes/bits on the road to office. On the way home - BAM - empty script. Didn't even use iPad in between. So it was like "type/edit - lock ipad - unlock - empty script".
Dropbox sync works pretty weird for me - sometimes deleting scripts and resyncing with DB. So that's not an option.
iOS8, no Bluetooth or third-party keyboards...

I'm really sorry about that. Which version are you using (1.5 from App Store or 1.6 beta)?
-
Still on 1.5
Waiting with anticipation for 1.6 release =)
-
One time i found that, but its my own fault,if i open one script while another script is still running and i use editor.replace, the script'contents will be replaced.
-
Just as a precaution, I regularly use the export function to mail myself a zip archive of my working folder. I've never needed to use it yet, but it gives me peace of mind.

I try to keep backups with my FTP sync script, but, regardless, I've lost some work to bugs like this. It is just so unpredictable that I'm not sure how @omz will be able to exterminate this bug. One thing I've found, at least on the 1.6 beta, is that closing all tabs before quitting Pythonista helps. I've only ever lost code from tabs (even though there's only one tab for 1.5) that are on screen when I quit the app. I think something like this has been mentioned once somewhere regarding the beta, but I can't remember it specifically. I don't know if there are any logs or what to send to @omz, but if there are, I'd be happy to send them in.

@Gerzer Have you seen this issue in one of the last three betas? It should really be fixed since build 160018.
-
I don't know, I've just been closing tabs before I quit for a while now. I don't remember exactly when I last lost code, but it was probably before 160018.
