Will it be possible to build Apple TV apps with Pythonista?
-
@MartinPacker , I didn't read that I would be based on iOS, but it would make a lot of sense that it is. Well in my limited knowledge. It would be absolutely crazy to come up with another code base. You would want to leverage your customers. Siri integration is a small hint.
Anyway we see. Personally I think they are smart it will be iOS with a extra ui layer sitting on top of it -
Current AppleTVs run iOS but the new announcement was about tvOS and it is not clear to me how divergent that is from IOS.

I watched the keynote live from school. I think I heard either 70%-90% iOS. Now I get it. It would need modules for remote input.

Interesting snip it article... -
I have had my Apple TV 4 for a couple of days now. I have to say, it's pretty nice. I have had every Apple TV since its release. Even though its beenneglected over the years, I have always considered it a must have. (In Australia, we were lucky to have pretty rich content on iTunes, realitively early compared to a lot of other countries outside the US). Anyway, it looks hot. I really hope that at some point we can do apps for the Apple TV via Pythonista.
Also hoping to get my iPad Pro today. Looking fwd to see how the coding experience is with the larger screen. Mind you, the air 2 is good, but at times, you psychology feel boxed in. Even that being said, I think @omz has done a fantastic given the realestate limitations. To spend hours on an iPad coding and feeling like you are getting somewhere takes nothing less than what he has supplied, at least for me anyway.
Anyway, absolutely loving my Apple TV 4.
Btw, if you use Beamer to transmit to your Apple TV, there is a new version for the Apple TV 4, it works perfectly. -
From my understanding tvOS has some new xml based markup language specifically for content apps, but it can also do full native apps.

Can see a lot of code on the new iPad Pro
-
Really? Looks to be about 40 ish lines, same as on ipad.
-
Ipad Air2, 36 console lines, Ipad pro 50 console lines. Portrait mode.
Same font ('Menlo', 22) -
Oh, i see... I think I use Menlo 14 (57 console lines on ipad 3).
-
@JonB , with Menlo 14 I get 78 console lines. It's just too small for me, even with glasses on :)
I love the new 'pythonista_startup.py', besides other things, I set my font and size there as well as my screen brightness. Small thing, but super handy

@JonB , only 2nd day using the ipad pro. But I am really impressed. The worst thing is the keyboard, it's a little crazy, but I can get around that. Ok, it's to heavy to travel with in my opinion, also for me it's too heavy to hold and read a E-book (I will still keep my ipad2 air ) But for pythonista, it's fantastic. The way I use my iPads, is lay them flat on a table. I personally don't like these stands. I also don't use an external keyboard. That's just my way. On every other ipad I have owned, I only have wanted to use them in portrait mode. I spent a few hours yesterday with the ipad pro in landscape mode. Have to say it was pretty good. But my most important app is Pythonista, and I really like that in Portrait mode on the pro. It was ok in landscape mode, liveable. But in portrait mode, it's very nice.
Also, I have noticed a lot of the software already takes advantage of the extra screen realestate (not just scaling up) Also, I am getting almost identical battery usage as on my ipad2 air. I think that's pretty amazing. Almost 2 times up on processor speed and so many pixels.
Anyway, I just write this in case anyone is interested about the exp. with the Pro with Pythonista. Even after such a short time using it, gets a big thumbs up from me. But everyone uses their device differently. -
I vastly prefer landscape for everything. Maybe that's because I have an iPad mini, and the keyboard is too small for me otherwise.

@Webmaster4o , yeah, i understand. it does come down to personal things. but also I am 50, my eyesight is very bad. Also, i don't like the letterbox type feeling (16:9). But as i say, on the iPad pro, i could be ok with it. It was just the portrait mode was not just ok, but fantastic in Pythonista, for me!
