Button and text field .py launch?
-
Hello
Just wondering how to use pythonistas button & text field to send command parameters to another python script and execute it. I'm currently importing console and using alert for it but I would like to have a main gui that I can add a help button to as well.
I've done this before with TkInter but I'm not sure if it applies the same way to pythonista. -
Look at the documentation for Pythonista's
ui
module. It's quite different from Tkinter when it comes to how your code interacts with the module, but it's very powerful and will definately get the job done. You can even tap the square-grid icon in the script title bar to switch to an awesome drag-and-drop UI builder that can interact with your Python code as well. Just use the in-app docs, and you'll be on your way. -
@Gerzer, do you mind pointing to an example that will demonstrate "You can even tap the square-grid icon in the script title bar to switch to an awesome drag-and-drop UI builder that can interact with your Python code as well."

The ui designer is found next to the magnifying glass when you are editing a .py file, at least on ipad (I think on iphone there is another menu?). The pythonista manual has a simple example

A tutorial of sorts lives here:
