IDE on windows for pythonista/ipad development?
-
Hello all,
The search for an programming tool deployable on Ipad led me here to Pythonista.
As a complete python(ista) newbie, there will be a steep learning curve, but it seems feasible.I do need some pointers as to the best development setup.
Should there be a FAQ, please kick me in that direction :)I'd like to use a windows-based IDE or emulator on which I can develop the app and then push it to ipad.
Mac-based is also possible, but less preferred. Is XCode the way to go ?
I'm confused by the Apple Dev program, as the intended app(s), will only be used on about than 10 company devices - wihout any intention on public use.best regards

hello, welcome to pythonista!
You dont need xcode if you want it for 10 company ipads only. Just develop the program in python, buy 10 pythonista licences and run your program under pythonista on each ipad. Incredibly cheap solution.
All you need is to develop the program on the ipad, with pythonista.
If you really want to develop on windows then:- install python on windows (with the ide you want)
- make the program
- then port it to pythonista. You must work on the transfer because
- pythonista doesnt support all python libraris (use only the available ones)
- UI and graphics are platform specific, so you'll have to use the fonctions developped specifically for ios.

Actually you might not even need to buy Pythonista 10 times. A single Apple ID can be used on up to 5 devices (I think), so you could use one Apple ID per group of 5 devices. I think there are also ways to purchase volume licenses for iOS apps, but I don't know what the requirements or the prices are for that.
