Welcome!
This is the community forum for my apps Pythonista and Editorial.
For individual support questions, you can also send an email. If you have a very short question or just want to say hello — I'm @olemoritz on Twitter.

Pyto is open source so read that source and submit PRs to fix the gaps.
-
There were some forum posts about using objc to handle HEIC. Not as convenient as the photos module, but honestly with objc_util, someone could write a complete replacement for photos that works with HEIC.
-
For me it's not the lack of updates of the app but the lack of communication from the developer.
The app works fine for me currently but there will be something in the future which breaks and I'm not sure if it will be fixed.
Even this forum, I wouldn't be surprised if from one day to the next it just goes offline, simply because no one is paying the bill any more or something breaks in the web stack and no one is there or willing to fix it. -
This again?
- Go get a quote to develop an app exactly like Pythonista
- Review if what you paid is fair
As a developer myself I am sick of people setting unrealistic expectations from developers.
This isn't a mass-market app, in fact there are far more reasons to use Apple's Swift or Objective-C over Python than the inverse.
With niche market apps comes niche market waiting.
There is a lot of work that goes into supporting the various little things (internal modules).
Even C-based Python addons aren't always going to be easy to port over to iOS.
There are tons of options for getting exactly what you want from the massive SDK released by Apple, but none of them allow you to do develop right on the device.
Feel free to review the available options- in fact feel free to develop a competing product!
The truth of the matter is, there is plenty that Pythonista can do, and it is able to solve a lot of problems for a lot of people.
For instance, little "junk" apps which are simple in python but current iOS options are riddled with ads, etc can be made with ease.
Unless I am mistaken I don't think omz is making millions from this app.
Also, I can't see anyone here actually reading enough documentation or forum posts to refer to him as anything other than "The developer".
Any developer who could actually use the enhanced functionality correctly can do it themselves.
If you don't have the skills to implement it yourself, learn more, or choose another project.
While Pythonista remains the best in its small market, stop whining and perhaps help by solving issues and posting code.

@reticulated 2 years no update. 8 months not online. You still believe? Wow. So it’s that you, omz?
-
If omz don't develop / support Pythonista himself, why can't somebody buy the source code, or maybe making it open source so that this amazing app can be pushed further ? At the end it will be needed, at least for supporting new IOS versions ! I'm personnally leading a game project entirely developped on iPad with Pythonista, and seeing that there's no more support from de devs make me feel really bad about the future of my project................

I think it is time to say goodbye.
-
Bye-bye @lpl Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
I have not seen your pull requests or issues on https://github.com/ColdGrub1384/Pyto lxml, openCV, ui are all there now and it would be awesome to get your help on improving the usability.

@ccc I just said goodbye to pythonista. Did I say hello to pyto? From one shit to another shit? What's wrong with you?

I really don’t understand the hostility to the OP. This is a perfectly legitimate question and concern, phrased fairly and respectfully.
I’m a very happy user of Pythonista and greatly appreciate the work Ole has put into this amazing tool. I’ve nothing but admiration for the guy and wish him well. In fact my first reaction to the lack of contact was concern that he’s ok, and that’s still the thing highest in my mind.
The fact is iOS 13 is just around the corner. It’s another big step forward for the platform, we all know Apple is willing to break things in order to progress the platform and I’m concerned about compatibility. I’ve already had to create a new ID on this forum, because the password reset function doesn’t work and a request to fix it wasn’t picked up. That’s relatively trivial, but still cause for concern. If there is a more serious issue with the forum, it’s not clear this incredibly valuable asset to the user community would be fixed.
I think politely asking about the support status of an app you’ve paid for, or asking about alternatives if there is a problem, is a reasonable thing to do. Check the thread again, nobody has complained about lack of value, insulted Ole or asked fir their money back, or for made an actual complaint at all. They’re just voicing concerns. That’s it.
I am dismayed though, that some of the most regular, helpful and knowledgeable contributors to the forum are responding to requests about this so aggressively. I get that your heavily invested in the tool and it’s community. I respect that, but insulting or dismissive responses will only harm the community you clearly care so much about, and have done so much to support.
Best regards,
Simon Hibbs

- We haven't seen Omz for 8 months on the forum.
- Omz didn't update Pythonista in App store since 18 months ago.
- I tried using Twitter, email and forum to connect with him but failed.
- I asked to other people in the forum and they said calm down or try Pyto. Really? If I said iOS has not update for 18 months and we can't find the developers, what would you think? Calm down and try Android?
-
@lpl You upvote my comment, then post that? Really?
Oh well, I tried.
-
As @simon_hibbs mentions above I too, am first and foremost concerned that Ole is ok.

Well, you can't see the edit history. ccc changed my words so I'm angry and changed again aggressively.

Beta expires in 8 minutes. :-(

@ccc 😢🤞

And it’s back again, even with some fixes!
-
Alléluia, Ole is not dead 😂
call me naive but I have always been optimistic
